Nintendo says it sold only 460,000 Wii U systems worldwide from April through September 2013. The original Wii bested it with 470,000 despite its sales shrinking to just more than a third of those reported in the same period last year. its a crazy time we live in guys. that a brand new console cannot seem to outsell its predecessor.
Nintendo hopes to reverse the system's fate this holiday season with a completely new retail presence: two $300 Deluxe bundles bearing Mario and Zelda games and a $300 Skylanders Swap Force Basic system on shelves or coming soon.
Nintendo 3DS, on the other hand, is doing just fine. Nintendo said its portable system moved 3.9 million units from April through September. Its biggest software release was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which sold more than 2 million units after it hit North America and Europe in June. These figures don't include Pokemon X and Y, which shipped in October.
so woot for 3DS's??
