Sony has finally officially confirmed the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V.
The PS4 version of the game will be released in Autumn 2014, Sony's Andrew House announced during sony's press conference at E3
In a later announcement, developer Rockstar went on to add Xbox One and PC versions to the line-up. "Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will take full advantage of the power of new generation systems to deliver the ultimate open-world experience," said the studio.
A short gameplay video shown during the Sony conference offered a glimpse of what appeared to be vastly enhanced visuals.
House also confirmed that players of the last-gen versions of GTA Online, both on PS3 and Xbox 360, will be able to transfer their full online progress to the PS4 update.
The remake will feature "across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail," says Rockstar. "Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North's epic reimagining of Southern California."
Other enhancements will include "new wildlife, upgraded weather and damage effects, and an array of new details to discover", according to the firm. GTA Online - the multiplayer portion of the game - will also see several updates, "all new content and gameplay created since the launch" of the game, including "an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations"
