Marvel vs Capcom delisted from PSN and XBLA

While the information as to the reasons why this is happening, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 are being delisted from the PSN and XBLA. Could this be due to Capcom being unable to afford the Marvel license any more, or are Marvel merely aiming to protect their properties similarly to Nintendo? We don't know, all we know is that DLC and online purchases of the game will no longer be possible.

What does this mean for the future of the popular franchise? It very likely means that it's dead and buried. From this it is very unlikely for any new updates for the game to be possible, or any new games to ever happen. Perhaps due to it it will be impossible for EVO to broadcast the game, we'll find out in time.

For now, the DLC is actually going to be gone today from PSN in the US, so you'd better snap it up quick! The DLC will vanish for European PSN will vanish on the 19th, and on XBLA the DLC will vanish worldwide on the 26th.

It's a sad day, but in the end Marvel are fully in their rights to decide not to go along with the series should they choose not to though I will personally be sad. I've been introduced to one of my favourite Youtubers, Maximillian, due to his Assist Me series that detail how to play characters from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (and for a time its Vanilla version). I was introduced to Marvel characters through the game too, namely Shuma-Gorath, Nova, Rocket Raccoon, Taskmaster, Iron Fist and the Super Skrull.

I hope one day we'll have hope for a Marvel vs Capcom 4, but it won't be any time soon. This is Eoin, signing out!
