The PS4 release will be the series' first on a PlayStation platform. Tropico 5 is also confirmed for PC, Mac and Xbox 360. An Xbox One version hasn't been announced.... yet anyway.
Tropico 5 is said to feature a whole bunch of new features, including advanced trading mechanics, technology, scientific research trees and island exploration.
Tropico 5 will also introduce cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four players for the first time. sounds fun
Kalypso said it will confirm a release date for the game "in due course".
"We have been evaluating many new and exciting development opportunities for the Tropico brand and by bringing Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 we open a new chapter in the history of the game," said Kalypso MD Stefan Marcinek in a prepared statement.
"By taking full advantage of the PlayStation 4's processing power the island of Tropico and El Presidente have never looked better."
